FAQs

What is the difference between the notebook adapters?

To assist with your selection, we have provided a product comparison chart. View a product comparison chart here.

How do I know if my adapter will work while on a certain airliner?

All airlines are different and may change the technology they use for providing power. Aircraft may use one of three types of power connections: standard wall outlet, auto outlet, or the aircraft specific empower plug. We recommend that you contact your airline company directly to verify what type of technology they use on their airplanes.

Please be aware that the amount of power provided on an airplane is limited. It depends on the power capability of the aircraft. You may experience lack of power while on an airplane due to these limitations.

Will I need a voltage converter to use my adapter in other countries where the voltage is up to 230 volts?

No, our adapters are rated from 110 volts to 230 volts and 50/60 hertz. For iGo notebook adapters, you can purchase the European and UK AC input cables offered on our website. For the other adapters, we also offer international plug adapters. If these items are not available or you are traveling to a country for which we do not offer a cable, you can purchase any standard plug adapter at local retailers.

Why does the blue light on my adapter flash?

This may be caused by a short in the DC output cable that runs from the power adapter to the notebook or device, not necessarily a defective adapter. Please contact Technical support for troubleshooting: iGo Technical Support.

How are Dell notebook tips 20 and S20 different than tips 35 and S35?

Due to the design of newer Dell notebook computers, which prevented 3rd party adapters from charging the notebook battery, our previous Dell notebook tips 20 and S20 were power ONLY tips that did not charge your notebook battery.

We have since designed tip 35 and S35 which will both power and charge your notebook. Due to higher power requirements for charging, some compatibility was shifted and you may need to upgrade to a higher wattage power adapter when going to the new charging tip. Please check the iGo Solution Finder to find the appropriate tip and adapter combination for your notebook computer.

*Note: Tips 20 and S20 have been discontinued. For warranty on these tips please contact Technical Support.
